Mikhail Titov set a PB of 35:53 to lead the Phoenix team at the Summerfast 10K in Stanley Park on Saturday. He placed 6th overall and was also the 40-44 age group winner and the overall masters winner! Mik was not thrilled about his prize, though, commenting that he "hated" Brooks shoes. Too bad it wasn't a cold hard cash prize like last year's.
The Frilunds, father and son, were the next Phoenix finishers. Frilund senior (Dave) made son Adam look bad as they came in at 38:59 and 40:05 respectively. Dave won the 50-54 age category.
Nancy Tinari, in her first race since tearing the ACL in her right knee, managed to hold out for a 42:16 finish, good enough to win in her new age category (50-54.)
Katie Tongue was second in the F-20 category with a time of 48:32.
Thanks to Jim T. for coming out and cheering us on at the 9K mark while we were fighting against that stiff yet cooling breeze!
The Pacific Ocean was quite warm--I tested it after the awards ceremony.
Nancy
